Since volume 93 articles can be downloaded from our website in PDF (Portable Document Format).

What are the advantages?

The most important advantage in downloading articles in PDF format is that an article can be printed from a computer with the same format as the printed version of the journal, including columns and fonts even if they are not available on the computer.

As the on-line version is generally published before the printed one, PDF permits a faster way to distribute the information published in our journal.

What should I do to download and read PDF files?

The first thing you should do is to install Adobe Acrobat Reader 3.0 (or higher version) in your computer, which is the program that opens PDF files.

If you do not have Acrobat Reader you can download it at no charge from the following websites:

Adobe Systems (USA) - Windows 3.x/95/98/NT, Mac, OS/2 and UNIX
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (Brazil) - Windows 95/98/NT

If your browser is an older version it may be necessary to configure your browser to recognize PDF extension and launch Acrobat Reader everytime you click on a PDF file. If you prefer you can save files to disk and then open them in Acrobat Reader.

Will the on-line version (HTML) continue to be produced?
The electronic version (HTML) of the journal will continue to be produced.
While PDF has as the most important advantage the print format, HTML is a better way to read an article without having to download it completely.
